Florian Rüter MD, Head of Quality Management at University Hospital Basel, Switzerland, joined the Chief Medical Office mid 2018. Experienced in surgical quality and patient safety he was designated to push distribution of ICHOM standard sets embedded in the hospital strategy concept of Value Based Health Care. As Chief Quality Officer he represents the ambitious Basel team widely implementing patient related outcome measures (“PROM’s”) in the first large sized swiss hospital.

Dr. Rüter, cardiac surgeon, received his medical degree at University Essen/Germany. Beside surgical education the focus on the organization of heart transplant programs led him to Basel where he complemented his interests by clinical and quality management. He graduated “Leadership in health care” (Northwest Swiss University of Applied Science), completed Harvard Business School Executive Education “Strategy for Health Care Delivery” and improves his skills in “Team dynamics under change and coaching” (ongoing).
