Diogo Leão holds a PhD in Value-Based Payment Models from the Department of Health Services Research at Maastricht University’s Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences. Building on an academic foundation in International Business and Healthcare Policy, Innovation and Management, his doctoral work examined the design and impact of payment models that incentivize high-value care, resulting in multiple peer-reviewed publications.
Prior to joining ICHOM as a Research Associate, Diogo collaborated on multidisciplinary evaluations of payment reform initiatives and patient-centered care programs, partnering with health-system stakeholders to translate complex research into actionable policy recommendations. He is passionate about advancing sustainable, equitable healthcare by aligning financial incentives with outcomes that matter most to patients and promoting the widespread adoption of evidence-based, value-driven care models.
