What does better obesity care look like to the people actually living with the disease?
Answering that question requires more than clinical expertise. It requires listening to people with lived
experience and creating meaningful ways for them to inform research, healthcare, policy and the
broader understanding of obesity.
The Obesity Action Coalition (OAC) is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization dedicated to elevating and
empowering people affected by obesity through education, advocacy and support. Through the free
OAC Community, individuals can access evidence-based education and resources, connect with others
and find ways to get involved and make their voices heard.
OAC connects community members with surveys, research initiatives, focus groups, advocacy efforts
and other opportunities that bring their experiences, needs and priorities into conversations about
obesity and its care.
This is especially important as healthcare increasingly looks beyond traditional clinical measures to
better understand what truly matters to patients. Quality of life, physical and emotional well-being,
access to appropriate care and the ability to participate fully in everyday life all contribute to a more
complete picture of the impact of obesity and its treatment.
OAC welcomes people affected by obesity and those who support our mission to become part of this
growing community. Whether you are looking for trusted education and connection or want to lend
your voice to research and advocacy, there is a place for you.
By building a stronger, more engaged community, we can help ensure the future of obesity care is
shaped not only for people living with obesity, but with them.
