We are pleased to share the following article, “Engaging Patients, Driving Workflow Efficiency with Noona,” produced by our Knowledge Partner Varian, which highlights how CancerCare Manitoba (CCMB) is leveraging digital tools to advance value-based healthcare (VBHC). Noona enhances patient engagement by giving individuals access to educational materials, symptom tracking, appointment schedules, lab results, and secure communication with care teams. This empowers patients to take a more active role in their care and promotes a patient-centered approach central to VBHC.
Operational efficiency is improved through digital tools like self-registration using QR codes and online portals. These reduce the administrative burden on clinical staff, allowing them to devote more time and attention to direct patient care. In turn, this contributes to higher quality care delivery and a more streamlined workflow.
For patients in rural or remote areas of Manitoba, Noona increases access to healthcare services by minimizing the need for travel. This digital connectivity ensures more equitable care regardless of geography, addressing a critical barrier in traditional healthcare models.
Finally, Noona supports data-driven decision-making by collecting patient-reported outcomes (PROs). These insights allow clinicians to tailor treatment plans in real-time, improving clinical outcomes and aligning with the VBHC goal of delivering better care at lower costs. Overall, CCMB’s use of Noona demonstrates how digital health solutions can enhance outcomes, access, and efficiency—core pillars of value-based healthcare.
