Organização Nacional de Acreditação (ONA)

Organização Nacional de Acreditação (ONA) is Brazil’s leading non-governmental, nonprofit organisation responsible for developing, managing and promoting national healthcare quality and safety standards.

Founded in 1999, ONA oversees the Brazilian Accreditation System (SBA), setting rigorous criteria that healthcare institutions must meet to demonstrate effective processes, patient safety and continuous improvement. Its accreditation methodology is recognised internationally by the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua), a WHO partner, and guides organisations through three levels of accreditation from basic compliance to excellence. ONA’s work drives quality assurance, enhances patient-centred care, and strengthens the performance of hospitals and health services across Brazil.
