A globally respected leader in healthcare innovation and reform, Dr. Kuipers brings decades of clinical, academic, and executive experience to ICHOM’s mission of advancing patient-centered, value-based healthcare worldwide. His career spans high-impact roles, including most recently serving as Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport in the Netherlands from 2022 to 2024, where he championed integrated care, sustainability, and digital health reform.
Dr. Kuipers currently serves as Vice-President Research at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. His leadership legacy includes a transformative tenure as CEO of Erasmus MC University Medical Center in Rotterdam, where he led the shift to a smart and sustainable hospital system, and as chair of multiple national and European healthcare networks and initiatives.
His distinguished contributions to healthcare include pivotal roles in shaping international cancer screening guidelines, pandemic preparedness, and climate-health policy. In 2024, he was named Officer in the Order of Orange-Nassau by King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands.
