Capadev: ICHOM Pregnancy and Childbirth Set Study

ICHOM partner Capadev has just published “A successful model for KSA-based payor-provider collaborative in maternity care” in the Journal of Patient-Reported Outcomes, a peer-reviewed study co-authored with Bupa Arabia’s Value Based Care & Health Center team.

The paper details a multicenter Value-Based Healthcare Collaborative rolled out across four tertiary hospitals in Saudi Arabia between July 2024 and July 2025, using the ICHOM Pregnancy and Childbirth Set.

The study enrolled 802 women, with PROMs and CROMs digitally collected at five predefined points along the maternity journey. The results demonstrate that standardized outcomes measurement is both feasible and operationally effective at scale: approximately one-third of women achieved clinically meaningful improvements across key domains, including mental health, continence, breastfeeding confidence, and bonding.

In 2021, Cabrini Health and Alfred Health launched a pioneering program in Melbourne to collect and use patient-reported outcomes (PROMs) for people undergoing colorectal cancer surgery. Funded by Let’s Beat Bowel Cancer, the Margaret Walkom Trust, and the Collie Foundation, this initiative integrates the Cabrini Monash Colorectal Neoplasia Database with ZEDOC—a cloud-based PROMs platform from The Clinician—to automate the collection and analysis of the ICHOM Colorectal Cancer Standard Set.

Led by Prof Paul McMurrick, Mr Peter Carne, and Dr Christine Georges, the program links clinical outcomes and tissue data to understand quality of life and functional recovery while supporting personalised, value-based care. To date, more than 200 patients have participated with around 80 % engagement.
