The ICHOM team is pleased to announce our new Strategic Alliance with Erasmus Medical Center, one of the Netherlands’ leading health care providers and a pioneer in medical education and research. Erasmus MC is the first of several prestigious organizations, in the Netherlands and beyond, that will work closely with ICHOM to drive value in health care around the world. By committing to measure and report the outcomes that matter most to patients, ICHOM’s Strategic Partners will lead national health systems and the global health care community toward value-based health care. We have been proud to count Erasmus as a Sponsoring Partner for some time, and we look forward to embarking on this new and important journey with this innovative organization.
The International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement, ICHOM (www.ichom.org), was founded in 2012 by Professor Michael E. Porter of Harvard Business School, the Boston Consulting Group, and the Karolinska Institute. ICHOM’s mission is to unlock the potential of value-based health care by defining global Standard Sets of outcome measures that matter to patients for the most relevant medical conditions and by driving adoption and reporting of those measures worldwide. ICHOM collaborates with health care stakeholders to advance awareness of the Standard Sets, spur development of data-collection technologies, align registries, and support pilot implementers. In time, providing risk-adjusted international benchmarks on both outcomes and resource-requirements at the medical condition level will help us achieve our fundamental goal of enabling value-based health care.
